Alone Star 02:33
Standing on the curb Nothing inside works Wash away my pride Come and take it first I'm alone again Bridge is jammed up now I'll get out somehow The sun will break us down Some things won't dry out We're alone again

Never Let Me 03:14
It's in my nature, I am a younger brother One fall and then another Oh I didn't know this place gets so cold It's in my nature, I am a simple creature Thirty acres, then the debt collectors I don't need it, those days are documented Sometimes I feel I'm nothing but a public record Oh I didn't know this place gets so cold And now I'm not too young to trust every impulse of my soul But they never let me grow old They never let me How was I ever raised? I only ever wanted to be on display Not enough

The horses of Houston trot sideways past The permanent itch of the fibreglass The concrete bayou and the chlorox trash Hear them echo off the pickups in the cul de sac Running wild through the ten year plan This place has no name on the map Said they sent a letter but it never came Feel this way every time it rains. This street is cursed, moving out someday The horses of Houston will have their say. Running wild through the hundred year plain On the map this place has no name. Doll house suspended in the canopy Snakes come through where it used to be Overpass, nightmare, memory Bird's nest in the AC vent Snake pit in the garden bed Gators chewing through the flat screen set They'll never catch these horses Too swift to forget This place has no name on the map

Chicago 02:42
Take me to your city I want to see the great lake open Take me to your city Show me the modern office buildings That's the chicago school now Take me to your city I need to get right out of here I'm a motivated visitor Show me some night when the sky is clear That's the Chicago school now Booster Designing the horizon It'll never be the same Booster Designing the horizon The jewel of the plains The jewel of the plains

Sometimes a human connection gets in the way Of rules and directions and what you have to say Being with you is heaven but this place is hell I know they're connected, you know me too well I'm always losing things Been on my mind But I'm only losing things You're always easy to find Sometimes a human connection is all you can send The city is collapsing, if it breaks then you bend I don't know if this all happens by divine intent At least we're out here laughing bout the final end I'm always losing things Left a lot of shit behind But I'm only losing things You're always easy to find

First it's a joke, then it's a tragedy, Fact and fiction Crying all alone, then you win the lottery, Fact and fiction. It can happen for you You stick with it It can happen to you Don't get suspicious But music listens back I left my heart in Texas I wish it was fiction I lost my soul on Craigslist I'll get it back with interest Happens to you You miss it It happens to you That's when music listens Music listens back The moon is wild, the derby's on We'll look for fictions in the dawn And in the Topo Chico mist Claim another sponsorship It can happen for you Like a kiss Like fact or fiction Like music listening in That's when music listens back

about

Harris County Gothic is an album about disaster. Specifically, it's about Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas, and what the winds and rain can do to you. In this debut dream pop album from Toronto-based Calling Party, psychedelic ambience grows wild over traditional pop song structures.
